Miller Hall Comes to Life
May 17, 2009 the Lincoln Street Music Studio of Polk City held their
annual music recital in Miller Hall. A keyboard and drum set was set up
on the stage. Forty seven music students performed on the Cox Stage. The
music was excellent and the acoustics in the hall was very good. About
twenty minutes before the start of the recital Grandparents, parents and
siblings of the performers begin to stream in the building. Some people
brought their lawn chairs, some their bag chairs to ensure that they had
a seat for the hall only has fifty chairs available. The hall quickly
filled up with a final count of about one hundred and fifty people. I
would guess that there may have been more people on the second floor of
historic city hall that day than ever before. It was packed! The event
went off without a hitch. The Lincoln Street Music Studio was quite
organized. What an event for the first usage of the hall in almost sixty
years. It was very satisfying to see the hall being used after our
project of almost seven years to complete the restoration.
